Catering

We prepare about 220 lunches daily for students, staff, volunteers and sometimes visitors. This is a big undertaking, especially as there are often more than ten different nationalities coming together around our lunch tables.

Two cooks and six helpers make a good team, trying to satisfy all the hungry stomachs and culturally diverse expectations. About 60 boarding students eat breakfast in their dormitories, and communal evening meals in our big hall. The work never seems to end. The kitchen also provides packed lunches or snacks for school trips like sports events and other outings.

Our menu varies from Zambian cuisine, which includes nhsima or rice with chicken or fish, beans and green vegetables, to more 'foreign' dishes like spaghetti bolognaise, hamburgers or hot dogs...

Seeing the children appreciating the food is a very satisfying reward for all the effort put into this ministry.
